Prosthodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association. This dental specialty focuses on diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance, and health of patients with conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth or oral tissues. Prosthodontics can include replacing missing teeth, restoring irregular or damaged teeth, and more. In Short, a prosthodontist works to restore and enhance the way that your smile looks and functions. In many cases, a prosthodontist acts as the quarterback in dental treatment plans. A prosthodontist often leads a team of general dentists, specialists, and other health professionals in finding solutions to dental problems and needs.
ALL-ON-4 IMPLANT DENTURES
Dr. Massood Nouri offers All-On-4 implant dentures for patients who need to restore damaged and weakened smiles with permanent dentures. If you believe you would benefit from receiving All-On-4 implant denture we encourage you to speak with our prosthodontist. If you are looking for a stable long lasting solution for replacing multiple missing teeth, our prosthodontist may recommend implant supported dentures. Implant-retained dentures are very similar in form to traditional dentures; however, they are stabilized by dental implants. Very often denture wearers complain that dentures become loose and “float” around the mouth, limiting their ability to eat and speak comfortably. Implant dentures are a cost-effective solution. In many cases we are actually able to retrofit an existing denture with implants.
The first step in anchoring your denture with dental implants is the placement of the implants. The dental implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone in order to securely anchor your denture. While the specific number of implants required will depend on your individual needs, most cases require 4-6 dental implants per denture. Once the implants have been placed and allowed sufficient healing time, your denture is attached to the top. This provides your denture with exceptional stability. In fact, many patients report that their implant-related dentures feel and function more like their natural teeth.

BRIDGES, PARTIALS, & DENTURES
If you are missing one or more teeth, you may be aware of their importance to your appearance and dental health. Your teeth work together to help you chew, speak, and smile. When tooth loss occurs, it is difficult to do these things. Tooth loss can occur due to trauma, disease, injury, and neglected dental health. If you lose a tooth, the best course of action is to promptly replace the tooth before the adjacent teeth are affected. Teeth are designed to complement each other. When a tooth is lost, the nearby teeth may tilt toward the empty space, or the opposing teeth may move up or down toward the open space. This places unusual stress on both the teeth and tissues in your mouth, and can lead to further dental problems. You can restore your oral health and your smile with a fixed bridge, partial, or denture.
Dr. Nouri provides our patients multiple different restoration options for missing teeth. Dental implants can also be used to replace lost teeth, as well as the traditional versions of bridges, partials, and dentures – all of which can be secured with dental implants for a reliable, no-slip fit.
A bridge is a restoration which replaces or spans the space where one or more teeth have been lost. There are two types of bridges- fixed and removable. Fixed bridges are bonded into place and can old be removed by a dentist. Your appearance, dental health and the proper functioning of your mouth are all important reasons for wearing a bridge. A bridge also helps maintain the natural shape of your face and helps support your lips and cheeks.
FULL AND PARTIAL DENTURES
Replacement teeth or dentures can be of benefit to you whether you are missing all or just a few of your natural teeth. Partial dentures, or partials, replace many teeth on the upper or lower arch, and the teeth do not have to be in a row. Full dentures are used when all upper or lower teeth are missing. Dentures can be made to resemble your natural teeth so that they are esthetically pleasing. Dentures may also improve your appearance by giving you a more confident smile and help restore the natural shape and volume of your face and profile.

Aesthetically pleasing crown restorations
A crown is a cap-like restoration that is designed to fit over the entire surface of the tooth. Minor damage or decay often only requires a small restoration, but larger dental issues require a crown to restore the compromised tooth structure. Crowns are often used for a tooth that has been damaged or has a large decay. Crowns are also required after root canal therapy as well to strengthen the tooth and protect it from infection for long term results.
Crowns are made from several different materials ranging from metal colored, to the more aesthetically pleasing tooth colored zirconia crowns. Dr. Nouri often elects to restore using porcelain tooth colored crowns instead of the other less appealing options such as metal crowns. The porcelain and zirconia crowns are made with materials that are long lasting and durable. In fact, these porcelain and zirconia dental crowns are custom shaded to match surrounding teeth, so they blend seamlessly with your smile. When using the tooth colored porcelain crowns Dr. Nouri is able to restore the health and function of a damaged tooth while also restoring the aesthetic appearance of your smile to its original condition.
WHY CHOOSE A PROTHODONTIST FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS
Loss of natural teeth, whether in an accident or as part of the natural aging process, can be traumatic and affect your confidence. Simple pleasures – like smiling or going out to eat can become a source of stress or embarrassment. With the help of a prosthodontist, there are many options if you have lost some or all of your natural teeth. Prosthodontist’s are trained to manage the most complex dental restorations. From patients requiring rehabilitation after injury, or for those born with genetically missing teeth. Dental Implants are a great option as individual tooth restorations as well as full mouth restorations using All-On-4 technology, and even implant supported dentures.
Dental implants most closely resemble nature’s design for your teeth. A natural tooth has two main parts – the root that extents into the jaw and supports the entire tooth structure, and the part of the tooth that is visible, known as the crown. Dental implants resemble natural teeth as they also have two primary components: a root(implant) and a crown.
BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS
Implants allow a person to eat, speak, and smile as if he or she has healthy natural teeth.
Implants can be single tooth restorations and do not affect other teeth, or gums.
Because implants are placed in the jaw similar to natural teeth, they reduce the chances of bone loss; a very common problem for people with missing teeth that can affect other teeth. Implants eliminate the need for adhesives and are an ideal option for those who experience loose, or ill-fitting dentures.
